The new A7 X1 is the first AMD-based mid-range gaming laptop from Gigabyte's new Gaming series. It features the Ryzen 9 5900HX processor with integrated Vega 7 graphics plus an Nvidia RTX 3070 Max-Q 140 W discrete solution. The display is limited to FHD resolution, but gets 144 Hz refresh rate, and there is support for up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM and 6 TB of storage.
Gigabyte is introducing the A5 and A7 Gaming mid-range laptops powered by AMD's latest APUs. The A7 X1 in particular is considered Gigabyte’s first mid-end gaming laptop to feature AMD’s Ryzen 5000H processors and Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3000 mobile GPUs. Gigabyte is also pushing its “Beyond Gaming” slogan here in order to signal that the new laptops are designed not only for gaming but for learning, work from home, and content creation as well, especially now that the world is going through a global pandemic.
Powering the new A7 X1 17-inch laptop we see the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX APU integrating a Vega 7 iGPU coupled with up to 64 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. The storage side includes a 2.5-inch bay for SATA HDD/SSD models, plus two additional M.2 2280 slots that support one PCIe 3.0 lane each for up to 6 TB capacity. To keep the prices as budget-friendly as possible, the display only features FHD resolution, but still offers decent color gamut with 72% NTSC and 144 Hz refresh rate. Even though the RTX 3070 GPU appears to be a Max-Q version, the TGP is almost set to maximum at 140 W.
